To get the ZIP code for a street address, enter the address in the official USPS ZIP Code Lookup. It returns the standardized address with its five-digit ZIP and ZIP+4, or tells you when an address is not recognized. Here is how to use it and what to do when it does not find a match.
Look up the ZIP code for an address
Open the USPS ZIP Code Lookup and choose “Find by Address.”
Enter the street number and name, plus any apartment, suite or unit.
Add the city and state (or skip the city and enter a ZIP you think is close).
Copy the standardized address it returns, including the ZIP+4.
The ZIP code goes last, after the two-letter state abbreviation. Use the standardized form returned by USPS; it matches what carriers and sorting machines expect.
Can I find addresses from a ZIP code?
A reverse lookup works for places, not people: our ZIP code lookup shows the town, county and neighbouring codes for any ZIP, and the state directories list every ZIP. A list of street addresses or residents in a ZIP is not public reference data; businesses obtain licensed mailing lists instead, as explained in ZIP codes and mailing lists.
Only need the town's ZIP code?
If you know the city but not the street, search it below. Larger cities have many ZIP codes, so the street address is still the way to pick the right one.
