Enter two ZIP codes to get the distance between them in miles and kilometers, as the crow flies, with the recorded place and county for each ZIP.

How this works
Each ZIP has one approximate reference coordinate in the dataset. The tool applies the haversine formula to those two points, using an Earth radius of 3,958.7613 miles.
Distances are calculated between approximate GeoNames postal reference points with the haversine formula. They are straight-line estimates, not driving routes, delivery zones or boundary intersections.
Straight-line versus driving distance
A straight-line figure is the shortest possible distance and is what most shipping-zone, radius and “as the crow flies” calculations use. Driving distance is always longer, sometimes much longer around water, mountains or highway networks. For a route, open the two reference points in a mapping service.
How long will mail take between two ZIP codes?
Distance is only part of the answer: delivery time depends on the mail class and on the mail-processing network between the two ZIP codes. For an official estimate, enter both ZIP codes in the USPS Postage Price Calculator ↗, which lists the expected delivery time for each service it prices. This site does not estimate delivery times.
